Ask a question about: Auctions
Respond to the question: Transportation Exchange?

Unfortunately I am not aware of papers analyzing auction like situations with network effects. On the latter I can mention Katz and Shapiro seminal papers in the eighties.

I am studying efficient exchange mechanisms for shipper-carrier negotiations in the spot market. I am trying to use game theoretic models to develop strategies for shippers' and carriers'(truckload carriers, that is those that lease vehicles as a whole) participation in the exchange.

The problem is more complex than a fundamental auction problem because of the network effects that introduce economies of scale and scope into the problem.

I am looking for any relevant materials/insight into the problem.

Regards, Debjit.
