Respond to the question: Optimal row mixed strategy?

02/11/2010 12:59 PM by Jeff Esposito; Optimal row mixed strategy
I entered the following game matrix, which came from an analsys of a simplified poker game (I can provide more details if you are intersted.)

1,1,0,0
0,-2,1,-1
-1,-1,0,1
1,2,-1,0

It came up with { 0, .125. .625. .25 } as a optimal column player's mixed strategy; with a game value of .125.

It occured to me that entering the transpose of the game matrix should guve me the row player's optimal strategy, so I entered:

1, 0, -1, 1
1, -2, -1, 2
0, 1, 0, -1
0, -1, 1, 0

And it returned the following solution { 0, 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 }
But it also said the value of the game is 0. (instead of -.125, which is what I expected.)

What am I missing here?

thanks,
a confused poker player [Manage messages]
