Respond to the question: Utility function?

01/12/2005 06:03 AM by ruoyan; Utility function
Why is the utility function as U=F(X,Y),but not Ux=f(x),Uy=f(y) ?
I wonder U=F(X,Y) is a fundamental mistake,as I thought the utility is strictly rely on the "way of consume" , any kind of commodity, could not be substitute by the other one with the same utility.
can i get explain? [Manage messages]
